Rowan Chernin

Sabotaging since 10 Oct 2010

It all began for Rowan Chernin at Capital Radio circa 1989 as the promotions assistant; working on the road shows supplying Mick and Prat with T-shirts and pencils to throw at kids. Then it was over to i-D Magazine as Advertising/Marketing Assistant. I produced the i-D T-shirts, organised the infamous DJ World Tours and soon discovered that the i-D was owned by a Sith Lord. This encounter with “the dark side” developed into a passion for journalism. This shady path lead to creating ideas for the first issue of Loaded Magazine and acquiring the poisonous title of Clubs Editor. Rowan also hosted a club night It’s On - Top Tunes Shite Mixing, in the Gothic Soho dive aka Gossips throughout the 90s. He went onto edit the back section of Loaded; clubs, music, film, books etc. and interviewed lots of characters including Lee Scratch Perry and the late Sonny Barger, head of the Hell’s Angels. Rowan later gained the nefarious title of Editor at Large, went freelance in 2001; edited various websites, lots of copywriting, released a compilation album entitled Chairman of the Board Surf Soundtracks 1964 to 1974, curated and produced a live music and film event at The Barbican where he commissioned Death in Vegas to write an original score and Flat-e to edit three classic surf films into one. Rowan retired in 2005 and now keep bees in Sussex..
