On arriving at the house of an eminently stylish writer friend for a breakfast symposium on the nature of being, I could not have been more impressed when he opened the door clad in a pair of dark grey Sea Island cotton pyjamas, monogrammed slippers and an immaculate dove grey cashmere dressing gown. ‘I wear this lot around the house all day long,’ he nonchalantly replied when asked if he ‘dressed’ for breakfast.
