These pictures are from the hand of John Berkey, best known for his iconic Star Wars posters. He got his big break after being commissioned to do illustrations of the astronauts involved with the original attempts by NASA to go to the moon, and it was these that led him to the attention of George Lucas. From here he did designs for Towering Inferno, King Kong and even U.S postage stamps. He died in 2008, but not before being inducted into the Society Of Illustrators Hall of Fame in 2004.
