I, Pet Goat II: Does This Film Predict The Apocalypse?

With spooky imagery, Bush and Obama dancing on a Masonic chessboard and even a fiery Jesus flying to the rescue on a cloud, many conspiracy theorists feel the creator of this film has inside knowledge. We interviewed him to see if he really is an Illuminati film-maker...

A couple of months ago conspiracy theorists went hell for leather trying to decipher a short 3D animated film that appeared on the internet with the title “I, Pet Goat II”. The film depicts all sorts of creepy apocalyptic scenarios and even shows Bush and Obama dancing around on a Freemason chessboard type floor with puppet strings hanging from their arms. The film, by obscure mountain based studio Heliofant, is riddled with hidden messages, symbols, apocalyptic visions and even a hypnotised Jesus Christ figure that surfs by on a boat of fire.

Some people even believe that the guy who made I, Pet Goat II (there’s no I, Pet Goat I by the way) has some kind of insider information on how the end of days will approach. This wasn’t helped by the fact that just days after the film was released, which shows the pyramids topple in a blaze of fire at one point, Muslim militants released a statement saying they’d blow up the Great Pyramids in Egypt if given half the chance.

After hours of filling my tin foil hat covered head with scary theories and researching many of the Bible prophecies depicted in the film, I thought it best to speak with Louis Lefebvre, the man who made I, Pet Goat II.

Jake Hanrahan: Hi Louis. Firstly, what’s your history as a filmmaker, just so we know you’re not an Illuminati double agent?

Louis Lefebvre: Hey. Well I got into animation about 15 years ago. The most notable projects I worked on were Final Fantasy: the Spirits Within, for which I animated Dr Sid, and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, where I helped with the animation of Gollum and worked in the character rigging department. This is my first real short film, so my first experience as a filmmaker I guess. I had done little animation capsules before, but nothing like this.

Where did you get the ideas from for the bizarre depictions seen in I, Pet Goat II?

I guess there are many inspirations for the film, but it all started from an orthodox icon of Jesus Christ in reds and yellows. I saw him in a boat as a fire, and I felt compelled to follow him to see where he may lead. And once I started, the story came pouring out quite quickly as an animatic (as we say in the industry), a sort of very rough version indicating camera moves and a general edit. It then took me several years to bring each shot to life.

And of course there were many artistic influences. For example Baraka with its deeply felt spiritual message using only images and music, and also the Wall, which I watched as a child and responded to very viscerally. I really liked the social critique aspect of this film, as well as the way it delivered a masterful soundtrack with great symbolism. As for the visuals, there are many influences—native American art of the Americas, also the Group of Seven painters (from Canada), Dali and many others.

What does the title mean? Is it referring to the book George Bush was reading when told about the Twin Towers?

Yes, the title I, Pet Goat II refers to the book “The Pet Goat” George Bush was reading in the classroom on that fateful day. The title is a play on this, and in the context of the art might imply that we are the pet goats, kept neatly boxed in to our little reality in order to be controlled. I personally feel very strongly that the 911 attacks were actually controlled demolitions ordered by insiders in order to keep people in fear, give a pretext for more resourceful wars in the Middle East and bring about the Patriot Act that took many civil liberties away for us.. So in this context, a pet goat could actually be a false-flag operation. The title could then mean one false-flag, two false-flags, and on and on endlessly the chicanery continues.

Was there any specific purpose for I, Pet Goat II, other than showcasing the great animation and direction it has?

I was absolutely about expressing ideas and emotions that had been on my mind and in my heart for quite some time. The main idea is the crumbling of the hierarchical world based on control through fear and oppression, to reveal a world of individuals awakened to their own intimate connection to Source, with no need for intermediaries. The film also asks a question I think that is quite important at this time regarding Christianity. Are we to await a physical reappearance of an external saviour or is the resurrection when humanity embraces fully the core message of Jesus Christ? There are many other themes and mini-stories running through the narration of course. But definitely the reason for this project was to express something I deeply felt.

The film’s laced with symbolism and riddles, is there really a secret message to be deciphered within them?

Yes, symbolism is a language all its own. But unfortunately not many people are very well versed in it, even though they are all around us, in logos, monuments and other works of art. The Elite often use symbols in ways that leave us puzzled. But really symbols can be invested with any meaning we want, positive or negative. They are more encompassing than words, meaning different things to different people. That leaves the interpretation a little more fluid and perhaps asks the viewer to ponder the work a little more deeply.

I take it you believe in conspiracy theories and Bible prophecy yourself?

I think it is clear there are conspiracies. One only has to look to the recent Libor scandal to see that several of the world’s biggest banks colluded to fix the interbank lending rate which pretty much affected the whole world. It seems that history books are replete with examples of groups of men and women conspiring against other groups. The question then, it seems to me, is just how deep and pervasive is the conspiracy, and what are its mechanisms and aims.

I agree with you there Louis. Thanks for your time. And remember, OTIS

I am glad to see Jesus is victorious, at least that's my take on this video, but I'm not sure of the satanic overtones all over this video, and in the name Helio phant. I also think the makers of this video aren't being totally honest in the meaning and what they know. Otherwise very well made and beautiful artwork.
