I was sitting looking at Right Move on my phone trying to find a house to buy near my son’s school when a guy in the room said “Have you looked at Wowhaus? Its spelt like Bauhaus only with ‘Wow’ instead of ‘Bau’.” Twenty minutes later I’d ditched the idea of a modest family home in North London and was working out if I could scrape together a couple of million to buy a former RAF base in Norwich.

Failing that there was always a ready to be converted water tower in Essex somewhere. Or any number of fantastic modernist houses ranging from a Frank Lloyd Wright in Ohio to a curved white classic that looked like a salt cellar with a pool in Antibes.Now I’m not a student of modern architecture but spent page after page on this fascinating website. I was amazed so many stunning looking properties were left unsold. Is everyone living in wigwams all of a sudden?
