There aren't many top class forwards about - so David Moyes and Jose Mourinho are rolling up their sleeves in preparation for an old fashioned tug o' war...

Edinson Cavani: Chelsea & Man United Ready To Go To War Over Uruguayan

Paris. The city of love. A romantic retreat. A cool, cosmopolite congregation. Oh yeah, and home to a Paris Saint Germain side currently smashing up the French top tier.

Les Rouges et Bleus raced into a seven point lead at the top of Ligue 1 at the weekend - and life is good in the French capital. Unless you’re Uruguayan goalie-botherer Edinson Cavani, that is.

The ex-Napoli frontman has been spotted skulking around the city of late, upset at having to play second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Parc des Princes.

Not for Cavani, a leisurely, sunny stroll down the Champs-Élysées. Nor an educational visit to the bone-filled subterranean catacombs, or an enjoyable evening rendezvous at one of Paris’ gourmet gastronomic establishments.

Nope - the South American has spent recent weeks glumly sitting in his bedroom, googling ‘why do my club h8 me so much’ and writing totes emosh statuses on Facebook.

Luckily for him, Chelsea have long been casting flirty glances across the Channel, and Jose Mourinho is certainly in need of firepower in the final third.

85 year old Samuel Eto’o is not getting any younger, and unfortunately, Fernando Torres does not seem to be getting any less Fernando Torres-y, so rumours are hotting up that the Portuguese boss might look to add some firepower to the Blues squad this summer.

Cavani would certainly fit the bill for the Stamford Bridge side. With a dearth of world class attacking talent out there at the moment, the Uruguayan is one of the most complete strikers on the market. The only problem is, PSG know that too - and as such they’re basically just writing as many zeros as they can fit on his price tag.

At the moment, the bidding stands at around £58 million.

Of course, where there’s money to be spent, David Moyes is never far away - and speculation is rife that Manchester United are ready to lock horns with Chelsea over the star, and looking to replace an outgoing RVP with an incoming CVN.

The Dutch striker appears to have, well, pretty much given up in the north west, and, looking far from the player who pretty much single-handedly secured the Premier League title for his side last year, his boss might be tempted to cash in his chips on the 30 year old.

But with no guarantee of European football next year, the Reds might struggle to compete with their London rivals as the race to get Cavani on the Eurostar continues.
