Try as they might, Liverpool just could not find the cutting edge to breach the Chelsea back-line (lol) yesterday, and it appears that Brendan Rodgers might be looking across the Channel in his attempts to add some attacking prowess to his Reds squad, according to the Guardian.

Powerful and pacey forward Alexandre Lacazette has been smashing up Ligue 1 for his current club Lyon this season, and has even forced his way into Didier Deschamps’ national team plans ahead of this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

With 21 goals this campaign, including a notch in the League Cup final against PSG last week, his form in France is beginning to turn heads across the continent, and it looks increasingly likely that he will be plying his trade in England next year.

But it won’t be an easy capture for the Anfield club, as Arsenal, who seem to have first dibs on any Frenchman coming across the Channel, have also been counting the contents of their piggy bank, ready to mount a bid for the player.

With Olivier Giroud looking likely to exit the Emirates, could Arsene Wenger have an instant replacement lined up?
